Hello there! My name is Michaela Penberthy.
If my graphic design career was a recipe, it would go something like this:
1 1/2 cups design
1 cup problem solving
2 cups communication skills
3/4 cup curiosity
1 1/4 cups work ethic
Pinch of fun and humor
Mix with passion. Bake with an open mind. Serve with a sincere heart.
The nuts and bolts of my background:
I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from Western Michigan University. I was freelancing for a year before moving to Washington, D.C. for a graphic design position at The Pivot Group. The Pivot Group is an advertising agency where I designed a wide range of print pieces and digital files. After the election cycle ended I moved to Chicago for a production graphic artist position at Novolex/Bagcraft, a company that produces food packaging for both national companies and local businesses. This position has given me an in-depth understanding in the field of Graphic Printing Sciences, as well as leadership skills, time management and communication skills.
I was born and raised in Metro Detroit by parents who valued art, in all forms. It was evident to me early on that art is everywhere! Graphic design gives me the opportunity to bring my passion for art and design to others, and to further the success of both small business and large companies. Beyond my work as a graphic designer, I fancy exploring the outdoors, traveling, immersing myself in different cultures and spending time behind my camera. I also enjoy discovering new music, admiring automotive design (shout-out to my Motor City roots), and burying my head in a new cookbook.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little! If you are interested in connecting with me, feel free to leave me a message via my contact page. I hope you have a great day!
