Indiana State Flag
There is no shortage of poorly designed state flags. When designing a flag there are some good rules to follow: simplicity, meaningful symbolism, unique design, no more than three colors, no lettering or seals and whether the design holds from a distance.
My re-design of the Indiana state flag uses the same background color as the current flag. I used a light blue line to represent the two main rivers that border both sides of the state. The yellow line represents corn, Indiana’s largest agricultural commodity. Indiana’s nickname is “Crossroads of America'', due to many highways and interstates that interest in Indiana. To represent the state's nickname, the blue and the yellow line intersect. This simple and purposeful design looks striking up close and at a distance with no aspects of the design getting lost.
